SOI Asia has now agreed with the University of Hawaiʻi (UH) on a research and education network strategy and research collaboration to realize resilient societies in the Pacific region, and has commenced its efforts.
This commitment is shaped by recent developments in regional research and education connectivity, including the Pacific-focused initiative announced by ARENA-PAC (Reference Link: https://www.wide.ad.jp/News/2025/20251211_e.html). In this context, researchers from APRS and UH have begun working together as primary partners, following initial planning discussions held in Honolulu in January 2026, and agreed to work together over the coming decade to gradually build foundations, pilot collaborative activities, and strengthen human and institutional capacity, contributing to a sustainable Pacific research and education ecosystem.
SOI Asia has as one of its missions to build a resilient society in the Asia-Pacific region, and is promoting research and education in Asia in collaboration with 30 universities and research organizations in 13 Asian countries.
