Lamenting the loss of Dr. Isamu Kaneko

Dr. Isamu Kaneko, a project assistant professor at the University of Tokyo's Information Technology Center, passed away due to acute myocardial infarction at 18:55 on July 6, 2013. We would like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Dr. Isamu Kaneko was a valued pioneer and a hero as a software researcher and a software developer.

Although he encountered difficulties at times in his career, those difficulties brought him many new supporters and friends, who put their efforts into helping him restart his activities and realize his new dreams. We were waiting for the results with great expectation.

We would like to express our respect from the bottom of our hearts to Prof. Hiraki and Prof. Inaba of the University of Tokyo, who prepared the new academic environment for Dr. Isamu Kaneko, to Mr. Dan, the lawyer who helped him through the difficulty, and to all who have engaged in this new research and development with him.

Now it is a new mission for we who outlive Dr. Isamu Kaneko to understand the new technology he brought to this world and his spirit and courage behind it, and to extend and communicate them.

Also, we would like to firmly promise, upon saying farewell to Dr. Isamu Kaneko, to pursue the societal cause of the difficulty he faced, and to make a world where his spirit may spread its wings.

The light Dr. Isamu Kaneko has lit will dwell in our hearts forever.

May his soul rest in peace.
