- Theme:Realization of a dynamic network configuration mechanism
- Chair:Akihiro Tominaga
- Board in Charge:Fumio Teraoka
- Expire Date:1996/4/9-1997/3/31
Achievements:
Specification and implementation of a protocol that automatically configures an entire network
Overview of research:
This work group developed a dynamic configuration mechanism achieved using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and realized a mechanism for configuring an entire network, including routers. Consideration was also given to the problems of reassigning network addresses, updating the DNS, and dynamically configuring all sorts of network services. Initial research was carried out using IPv4, and later adapted for IPv6.
