On 16 November 2011, the third Itojun Service Award was presented at the 82nd Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting in Taipei, Taiwan to Alexandre Cassen and Remi Despres for their design and application of “6rd”.

The Itojun Service Award is presented by the Internet Society (ISOC) in memory of Dr. Junichiro "itojun" Hagino, who passed away in 2007, and also to ensure the continued growth and evolution of the internet by promoting IPv6 development and use.
This year's award is in recognition of the success of “6rd” technology in making the IPv6 environment easily available in a format that can be practically applied to hundreds of thousands of users.
